Hello

I'm "Big Hair" Dave, the owner of Big Hair Productions – an entertainment and event production company. Additionally, I'm a founding member of The Dubplates, a reggae band in Charleston, South Carolina. Our record, “Box Full Of Steel,” snagged the number one spot on the Billboard Reggae Charts in 2017/2018.

In partnership with Kymani Marley, I co-own The Marley Cup and Skinful Halloween. As a producer of the world's largest Kiteboarding Contest, The Wind Voyager Triple S, I've been making waves in the entertainment industry for 19 years.

My career journey began at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida, where I ranked second in my class and earned an audio engineering degree. Post-graduation, I led the Audio Department at Production Design Associates / PDA. During my stint there, I ran the audio for prominent world events like the 2004 G8 world summit and many world leaders  including George W Bush, Vladimir Putin, and Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Eventually, I left PDA to explore my passion for music events. This led to the inception of Big Hair Productions and The Dubplates. Since then, we have produced, performed, and provided production for hundreds of global festivals and special events.

Over the years, we've worked with awesome people like Sir Richard Branson, Prince Harry, Bob Marley’s children (Damien Marley, Ziggy Marley, Julian Marley, and Kymani Marley), Steel Pulse, WU-Tang Clan’s Method Man, Redman, Yellowman, Cypress Hill, Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys, Flavor Flav, Third World, Lee Scratch Perry, 2 Chainz, and The Roots from The Tonight Show.

Love at First Sight

My journey took a turn over a chance meeting with Jay from Navy Yard Charleston who introduced to me the historic naval warehouses. It was Building 64 that caught my eye—it was love at first sight.

For over two decades, I've been in the business of producing concerts, events, and festivals worldwide. Some of my favorite venues are the historic buildings nestled in the old Navy Yard in N. Charleston, SC—where legendary events like Kulture Klash once took place.

We took a big idea to transform this spacious, historic warehouse into a state-of-the-art event venue. I'm honored to be at the forefront of change at Navy Yard Charleston, and I'm buzzing with excitement for the upcoming events.
